Silver-filled material is made of a layer of sterling silver hot-pressed on a brass base. Silver corresponds to 1/10 of the total weight of the product, which is about 100 times more than in a plated product. Silver filled has the same properties and appearance as sterling silver. It is however even softer than sterling silver and your silver-filled jewellery may get scratched more easily.
